Dog Caretaker

We are looking for dependable dog-lovers to work part-time, with the possibility of promotion to full-time.

Responsibilities:

  • Feeding dogs
  • Administering medication
  • Cleaning (LOTS OF CLEANING)
  • General care of the dogs (walking, grooming, calming them down, providing toys, etc.)
  • Monitoring for abnormalities and injuries (and reporting them to veterinary staff)
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers & management

Qualifications:

  • Love for all dogs
  • Open scheduling availability
  • At least 18 years old
  • Dependable transportation
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs
  • Ability to pass a background check

Applicant must be able to work any hours from 7am to 8pm, seven days a week, including some holidays. Hours will vary, so we need a candidate with a very open schedule. (Schedules are prepared a week ahead of time.)
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have dependable transportation.
Work history and references are required.

Starting pay is $9.50/hour.
New employees will receive an evaluation, and if appropriate, a pay increase after 90 days.

This is a long-term employment opportunity with plenty of room to learn and grow within the organization. This is NOT a short-term summer job.

Food Staff

This job entails preparing meals and medications for senior dogs. Applicants must be able to pay great attention to detail, be effective communicators, and have excellent memory.

Applicants must be able to work any hours from 6am to 8pm, seven days a week, including some holidays. Hours will vary, so we need a candidate with a very open schedule. (Schedules are prepared a week ahead of time.)
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have dependable transportation.
Work history and references are required.

Vet Technician/Assistant

Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is seeking a full-time veterinary technician to join our team.  The successful candidate will share our commitment to providing outstanding, personalized care to the 100 dogs at the sanctuary, and over 300 in foster homes.  The medical department is a small, close-knit team looking for a motivated individual who will blend in with our work environment and share our love for senior dogs.

Applicants must be able to work any hours from 7am to 8pm, six days a week. Hours will vary, so we need a candidate with a very open schedule. 
Applicants must have dependable transportation.
Work history and references are required. Please attach resume with application!

Certification in the state of Tennessee is preferred but, not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting vet in basic medical care for 300+ senior dogs in our program
  • Transport animals to and from specialty appointments
  • Cleaning (LOTS OF CLEANING)
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers & management

Qualifications:

  • Love for all dogs
  • 2-3 years experience in a shelter or small animal practice
  • Proficiency in basic medical techniques including IV catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, IV blood drawing, administering oral and injectable medications, running routine lab tests, and taking radiographs
  • Open scheduling availability Monday – Saturday, 7am – 8pm
  • Negative drug test
  • At least 18 years old
  • Dependable transportation
  • Clean driving record
  • Great communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs
  • Ability to pass a background check

Starting pay/salary is based on experience.
New employees will receive an evaluation, and if appropriate, a pay increase after 90 days.
