To provide a loving home, good food, high quality vet care, compassion, and comfort to senior dogs for the remainder of their lives.

To build a Forever Foster Home network to enable us to place more senior dogs in loving home settings for the duration of their lives.

To provide education on the joys and challenges of caring for aging dogs.

To work with other dog rescue groups to promote the adoption of senior dogs.

  • ** BEFORE & AFTER ** Jupiter first arrived at Old Friends; he was carrying more than just extra weight. At around 120 pounds, he was severely overweight, struggling with painful eye issues, and dealing with some serious behavioral challenges. He had a difficult time regulating his emotions, was extremely sensitive to handling like nail trims and grooming, struggled to settle, and had little to no basic obedience. He was a dog who needed a lot of patience, understanding, and someone willing to meet him where he was. And that’s exactly what he got. Over the past year, Jupiter has worked incredibly hard. With daily training, consistency, patience, and plenty of encouragement, he has made progress we couldn’t have imagined when he first arrived. He’s now a healthy 72 pounds—nearly 50 pounds lighter! He also underwent surgery to correct his inverted eyelid, helping address the eye issues he was struggling with. But his physical transformation is only part of the story. Jupiter can now be handled with medical examinations done without the fear or sensitivity he once had. He’s learned how to settle, how to communicate, and how to trust his people. The Jupiter we see today is proof of just how much patience, consistency, compassion, and time can change a life. We are unbelievably proud of you, Jupiter.
