Dog Caretaker

At Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, we believe every senior dog deserves love, comfort, and dignity in their golden years. We provide lifelong care and loving homes for senior dogs with special needs while giving them the chance to thrive in a safe, compassionate environment. Caretaker Responsbilites

  • Providing compassionate, attentive care to senior dogs with varying medical and behavioral needs
  • Feeding dogs according to individualized diets and administering routine medication as directed
  • Cleaning and maintaining kennels, living areas, and common spaces in accordance with sanctuary cleaning standards
  • Monitoring dogs for changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or overall health and communicating concerns promptly
  • Safely handling, walking, and exercising dogs of various sizes and temperments
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and communication important updates with supervisors and medical staff
  • Assisting with dog introductions, enrichment activities, and training as directed
  • Following all sanctuary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and biosecurity protocols
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for dogs, coworkers, volunteers, and visitors
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team while also completing assigned responsibilities independetly
  • Participating in ongoing training and demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • Supporting the mission of Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary by treating every dog with patience, dignity, and respect
