“Welcome to Pud’s corner! That’s right, I’m the one-eyed wonder known as Pud. But let me tell you, missing an eye doesn’t slow me down one bit! I’m all about adventure and excitement, always first in line to explore something new. With a wagging tail and a friendly disposition, I get along famously with my caretakers and fellow canine companions. I’m a sweet soul who adores my people and isn’t shy about showing it. And when I’m really feeling the joy, watch out for the zoomies—I love to dash around the room, proving that age is just a number! However, there is another side to me as I do experience sundowners syndrome, which affects me in such a way that I tend to have an attitude shift in the afternoon, and my demeanor becomes less ‘sunshiney’ and more ‘grumpy old man.’ This doesn’t make me any less lovable, though! It just means I need a human who is willing to understand my needs and can make sure my personal space is respected when I need it most. Hi, Future Geezer Guardian!
Our primary goal at OFSDS is to find lifelong placements for senior dogs where they can live the remainder of their lives as a part of a family. Most of our Old Friends that you see at the Sanctuary are available through our forever foster program.
Through sponsorships, donations, and grants, we provide medical care and basic needs to the dogs living in forever foster homes.
Being a Geezer Guardian to an Old Friend is different than fostering for other rescues in that we hope that our Guardians will be forever homes for the remainder of their Geezer’s life. Geezer Guardians must be within 100 miles of Mt. Juliet, TN, as we expect our Old Friends to continue seeing our in-house veterinarian. If you live outside our 100-mile radius and would like to adopt a senior dog, we recommend contacting your local shelter as there are many senior dogs in need of loving retirement homes.
