Rose

“Hi, there! I’m Rose, a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback. I was once part of a bonded pair but my other half, Ebenezer, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge ahead of me. I’m as friendly as they come, both with people and fellow furry friends. While I can be a bit nervous, my sweetness shines through in every interaction. I find comfort in my crate, which I see as my safe haven. When I get excited, I tend to pull on the leash a bit, but I’m getting better with some training. Speaking of training, I’ve mastered commands like heel, sit, down, stay, come, and the place command. I absolutely adore dogs and live for playtime with my canine pals. I’m quite sociable and will happily play with anyone who’s up for it. I’m beyond excited to have finally found my perfect Guardians who have shown me patience and grace while helping me ease into such a big transition (the sanctuary has been my home for 5 years!) – I just know that we are going to be besties and share a lifetime of love and adventures!”

As told by his favorite caretakers, “Ebenezer was a truly special little guy; a precious old man with an attitude to match, who never cared if he was in the way or what anyone thought. All he cared about was his other half, Rose; it was obvious that he loved her with all his heart. He always had to be with her and would howl at the top of his lungs whenever she was out of sight. Ebe loved to cuddle with Rose and go on the trail with her. He would start by walking fast, then slow down his pace while sniffing the ground for all the smells and making sure Rose was by his side. He’d get into his stroller for the more difficult parts of the trail, and towards the end of our walks he’d have a burst of energy and start howling to be on the ground again. Ebe was always polite when meeting other dogs, no matter their temperament, but Rose was his number one and they were the cutest odd couple. Ebe’s iconic howl is so missed, as is everything else we loved about him. Rest easy, sweet boy.”
